Taylor Momsem. Renaissance Woman.

So maybe I'm a tad late, but I didn't know Taylor Momsem was a vocalist. I only know her as the little girl from "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"... and the teenage drama queen with signature raccoon eyes from Gossip Girl. But while getting my daily dose of fashionista.com, I came across a post about Taylor Momsem starring in a new ad for the John Galliano fragrance called Parlez-Moi d’Amour. The background music is a beautiful song called "You" by Pretty Reckless, an alternative band consisting of Taylor Momsem herself and three other guys: Ben Phillips on the guitar, Mark Damon on the bass and Jamie Perkins on the drums.

Below is an interview with John Galliano and the actual ad.

Emma Watson, all grown up

Nylon magazine named Emma Watson one of 2010's best dressed. And I would have to agree. She has gone through a major transformation right before our eyes... the cute little girl from Harry Potter soon became a sexy young adult gracing the ads of Burberry. She reminds me of a young Victoria Beckham, and maybe that's why I'm falling in love with her new look.

Here she is in a classic Burberry trench from their Fall 2009-2010 ad campaign. And below, Emma in Tesh for Marie Claire.

It's Christmas time in the city : )

Merry Christmas from my house to yours!

Peace and lots of love,

Alessandra

And now that my broken bones all have been healed, I think I'm starting to feel...

I realized that I never posted my pics from my trip to the mountains (Chimney Rock Park, NC). I went in October and it was my first time "hiking" in the mountains... and by "hiking" I simply mean walking on a man-made trail with a series of steps and an elevator to the very top.

It may sound a little over dramatic... but the experience was nothing short of heavenly. It seemed like I was almost immediately transported into another state of mind as soon as I parked my car. At this point in time, this trip was everything I needed... I became calm, fearless, and very, very, appreciative of life.

And the person I was with did something to magnify what I was feeling. I spiritually connected with my environment and with him. Truly, one of the best feelings in the world and now one of my best memories : )

Designer Spotlight: Thom Browne.

Simplistic masculinity with a hint of girl power. My kind of style... Thom Browne, Spring/Summer 2011.

Trésor by Lancôme

Is it just me... or do you LOVE Lancôme's commercials for their Trésor fragrances? Absolutely. Beautiful.

Head in the clouds... painting my dreams on the sky.

I live in a fantasy world.

Last night, a good friend and I were talking on the phone. We usually talk for hours upon hours about nothing, but on occassions our convos get pretty deep. Last night was one of those occassions. We started out describing how we would want our weddings to pan out. Of course my vision was grandiose, and perhaps a little unrealistic. Oh, and I want my perfect, unrealistic wedding to happen in about 4 years.

After laughing at my seemingly childish proposal, he said to me, "Don't expect so much all the time because you'll only be let down."
It's logical and at one point, I reluctantly admit, I had the same thought process. BUT... when life doesnt necessarily work out the way we want it to or plan for it to, which is most likely more often than not, what else do we have but our dreams

You don't get that dream job you applied for. The person you thought was different turns out to be exactly the same. Your parents constantly annoy you. And your dog continues to chew up your heels.

(Yes, I'm venting.)

So when he made that comment I answered, "That's no way to live... my elaborate, hopeful daydreams are what put me to sleep at night."

Selma Hayek's view on beauty...

"People often say that 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder,' and I say the most liberating thing about beauty is realizing that you are the beholder. This empowers us to find beauty in places where others have not dared to look, including inside ourselves."
